That's what my mentors taught me two decades ago, and the data in 2026 makes it more true than ever.
This morning, during our Startup Circle session, I took the opportunity to share a LinkedIn post that I had recently come across. The post was written by an individual who has been navigating the challenging waters of unemployment for the past two years. Despite their persistent efforts, which included submitting over 700 job applications, I felt for them. I've been there. (1,800 rejections that's the origin story of this brand.)
But I also said this out loud, on the space, and I'll say it again here:
If you don't have your own business yet, start one today.
Not after the layoff. Not after the kids are older. Not after you "figure it out."
Today.
Because the numbers don't lie:

I love no's better than ghosts. A no tells me where they stand. A ghost wastes my energy.
